Air Intake heaters
Air Intake Heaters
Air intake heaters, also known as grid heaters and manifold heaters, are used in diesel applications needing quick, smooth and reliable starts in cold weather. The heaters are installed in the intake air system and pre-heat the combustion air to the temperature required for compression ignition of the fuel. Powered by the vehicle battery, these heaters provide mobile, conveniently available operation.
This type of engine preheating is cost-effective and good for the environment. In addition to producing fast cold starts, white smoke ("cold emissions"), engine wear and fuel consumption are reduced during start up. Air Intake Heaters are highly durable and low maintenance.
Air Intake Heaters are custom designed to fit specific applications for engine and ground vehicle manufacturers and are offered in an array of geometries and heating element configurations. Phillips and Temro Air Intake Heater applications include a variety of on and off highway vehicles, such as, light and heavy duty trucks and industrial, construction and agricultural equipment. This diverse application coverage allows PTI to be the best choice for any engine size and vehicle type.
Basic Air Intake Heater operation is controlled with a simple mechanical relay activated by the Engine Control Module (ECM). More advanced operation is available by pairing the heater with the Phillips and Temro Electronic Controller.
