Phillips & Temro has developed a family of Electronic Controllers to bring advanced operational control to our Air Intake Heater product line.  Electronic Controller configurations are customized to the application and may include variable power heater operation, system diagnostics, advanced system protections, and packaging integration with the heater all while providing a higher level of durability than the basic mechanical relay that it replaces.

 

These advanced features allow Phillips & Temro to work with their OEM customers to optimize the operation of the heater in the cold starting mode and the post-start white smoke reduction mode.  This optimization ensures that the energy output of the heater is matched to the varying needs of the application and that the total battery load is minimized.  It also enables the usage of higher wattage heaters for shorter cold start wait times.

 

System diagnostics and advanced system protections can be integrated through the Engine Control Module to provide operational visibility for regulatory compliance, heater protection from abnormal operating conditions, and more flexibility in heater design.  And the packaging integration with the heater can simplify wiring cables and reduce overall customer system costs.
