Specialized Blade Fans

Truax

Description

The conventional parallel blade shape is often an effective cooling solution. However, the need for reduced power consumption and less noise has led to the development of alternative blade profiles, which offer advantages for certain applications. For example, the conventional metal blade form effectively spreads air to the corners of the radiator core where the fan is relatively small. However, the Truax blade is narrower at the tip, which produces a more axial flow, and can save power. Likewise the sickle shaped blade, which is wider at the tip, reduces noise in applications where this is critical.

Applications

For use when reduced power consumption and/or less noise is critical.

Description

Varichord is an all-steel fan range, available in sizes from 600 mm (23.6”) to 1.25 meters (49.2”) in diameter. These fans have unique features which include adjustable blade angles and the ability to withstand high-temperature tests of 600° C (1,112° F) for 2 hours.

Applications

These fans are designed for high-temperature applications such as smoke extraction, car park ventilation, and tunnel ventilation.

Description

The fully reversible fan is essentially a spider fan with a special blade profile.

Applications

The efficient symmetrical cross section means that in emergency situations the fan motor can be reversed to give an airflow in the opposite direction.
