FAQ's
How many amps does my heater draw?
Watts / volts = Amps. Check page 87 of our application guide for more information.
How do I know this heater will be hot enough for my engine?
Generally with block heaters you don’t have a choice, we only make one for each engine size with few exceptions. In circulation heaters, you need 2-3 watts per cubic inch displacement as a general rule.
How hot does the heater get?
In general you would get a 30 degree rise in coolant temperature over ambient temperature. The engine will not necessarily feel warm to touch.
If I give you the size of my freeze plug, can you tell me which heater to use?
No, there are other factors involved to ensure a reliable installation. Internal clearance, wall thickness, inner wall shape etc are some of the reasons. Again, go to our application guide for the correct heater for your specific engine year and model.
Will a Lower Radiator Hose Heater work in my vehicle?
For a lower radiator hose heater to work, the diameter of the heater must match the hose size. We supply heaters that fit the following size of hoses: 1.0”, 1.25”, 1.50”, 1.75” & 2.0”. For this heater to work the hose must rise towards the engine and the engine thermostat must not be located on the hose used for the heater.
How do I get a copy of installation instructions?

How can I plug in the interior heater into my cigarette lighter in my car?
Phillips&Temro Industries does not manufacture a 12 volt interior heater. 12 volt limits the heat that could be produced to about 360 watts assuming a 30 amp fuse in the cigarette lighter circuit. It is very inefficient to run an interior heater on 12 volts.
My car and/or engine is not listed in your catalog, what do I do for a heater?
Phillips&Temro Industries has a heater sized and fitted for at least 90% of all engines in the market place. If we don’t have one for your size of engine, we would recommend a lower radiator hose heater or circulation heater.
Do you have other products available that are not in your catalog?
Phillips&Temro Industries has other products available that are OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) specific. These products cannot be sold to the Aftermarket because of proprietary agreements with those customers.
