Engine Block Heaters (immersion heaters) are the choice when AC power is readily available to a parked vehicle. To reduce customers’ electricity costs, Phillips and Temro manufacture an Immersion Heater Thermostat System. The thermostat cycles the heater on and off based on coolant temperature. This cycling allows the heater to operate only for the amount of time necessary to maintain a specific coolant temperature. This reduces the electric power used by up to one third.
Air Intake Heaters are used in diesel applications that need quick, smooth, and reliable starts in cold weather. The heaters are installed in the intake air system and pre-heat the combustion air to the temperature required for compression ignition of the fuel. Powered by the vehicle battery, these heaters provide mobile, convenient operation. In addition to engine products, Phillips & Temro manufactures Cab Power modular wiring system for work trucks as well as the sleeper cabs of over-the-road trucks. The Cab Power components distribute 120Volt AC power for driver comfort and convenience to run "hotel load" appliances. The system can also be installed on service vehicles to run power tools, laptops, and other on-board service equipment.
