No Idle Technology

Vehicle exhaust emissions are a leading cause of air pollution, and idling worsens the problem.  Legislative pressures to limit truck idling and higher fuel prices have created a growing demand for idle reduction solutions in the heavy duty trucking industry.

As a result, the heavy duty truck OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) are now offering factory-installed, no-idle solutions to their customers.  Most of these systems are designed to provide heavy-duty climate control systems to heat and cool the truck cab and 120VAC power distribution to run “hotel loads” for the comfort and convenience of the drivers.

The Cab Power System is an important component of the no-idle solution. The system delivers power to run virtually any 120VAC device from laptops to microwaves in the truck cab.  The system is designed to connect directly to land based power and to interface with 12 Volt DC to 120 Volt AC inverters.   Systems come complete with external/internal receptacles, a ground fault circuit interrupter and circuit current protection.

Phillips & Temro Industries was the first company to design and manufacture an OEM installed 120VAC power distribution system and coined the name “Cab Power”.  The Cab Power system is now available from all major truck OEMs and on many aftermarket idle reduction products, as well.
