Emissions Control Technology – Catalysts

Piedmont Natural Gas Company

Three custom engineered vertical silencer/catalytic converters were designed for Caterpillar G3616LE natural gas engines rated at 4,735 HP each. The system was a “Counterflow Combo” unit featuring convenient catalyst access at ground level, utilizing an array of standardized round catalyst elements. The solution met and exceeded regulations for both emissions control and noise pollution at their Cabarrus facility in Concord, North Carolina.

El Paso - Tennessee Gas Pipeline

This natural gas compression station located in Coudersport, Pennsylvania uses a

Caterpillar G3608LE engine rated at 2,370 HP. The solution for this application was achieved with a customized, hospital grade oxidation silencer/catalytic converter system providing emissions control performance levels of 93% CO, 75% formaldehydes and 50% VOC.

BP

Phillips and Temro was called on to design another Caterpillar G3608LE engine solution. This time for BP to reduce exhaust emissions and engine noise at their natural gas compressor station in Durango, Colorado. The performance requirements were accomplished with a specially designed super-hospital grade oxidation silencer/catalytic converter system providing 68 dB(A) noise attenuation with a system back pressure of 5” w.c.

Caitac Garment Processing

Caitac, located in Los Angeles, challenged Phillips and Temro to meet the stringent pollution reduction levels required in the state of California. The 3-way

Catalytic converter system successfully provided the necessary reductions for the Caterpillar G3406 application: 99% NOx, 99% CO and 50% VOC.

Phillips & Temro is ready to design your new system to standard engineering specs and will be able to replicate any of these systems featured above and more for other facilities of similar scope and size. All design, engineering, manufacturing and testing is performed entirely onsite at the Prior Lake, Minnesota location.
